Silver Gloves - Rid Fingers of Raynaud’s!

22 September 2015

Raynaud’s Disease and white fingers go hand in cold hand. You may find that standard gloves just aren’t good enough to keep your hands warm and attacks at bay, which is why we bring you Silver Gloves.

The Silver Standard

So, why is there silver in your gloves? It may seem strange that these perfectly ordinary looking gloves should have precious metal in them, but they really do contain between 8-12% pure silver thread, helping maximise your hand’s warmth and comfort. But how?

Silver’s “Infrared Reflectivity" (IR) rating is the highest of any element, over 95% to be exact. This means 95% of the energy that comes into contact with silver is reflected back and thus 95% of the body heat that meets with your gloves will be returned to you rather than released. By preventing your body heat from leaving your hands, silver gloves give more natural warmth than knitted or fleeced equivalents. Silver thread lets heat loss be minimised so that even when out and about, your hands can stay at a comfortable temperature.

In other words, 95% of the energy that contacts silver will be reflected back to its source. As a result heat loss is minimised by actively reflecting and storing the body's energy back to the skin and will be significantly warmer than clothing without silver

Along with having the highest IR rating, silver also has one of the lowest emissivity ratings, meaning that it loses heat slowly, any heat not reflected back is stored, so that once your gloves have been pulled on and warmed up, they’ll stay that way.

A Seamless Change

Silver gloves are soft, seamless and lightweight, this makes them perfect for wearing all day without losing dexterity. Thin enough to be worn as a liner in a thicker glove, they’re easily washable at 40 degrees and have been tested to last through 250 washes without compromising performance.

A hand-hugging fit that can shape to any size hand, silver gloves are the highest standard when it comes to keeping hands warm and comfortable.

Using Silver Gloves

Silver is able to reflect back body heat and help maintain your hand’s temperature, but if your hands suffer from poor circulation and are constantly cold then even these mighty gloves will need a helping hand. Try using an electronic hand warmer, easily portable alongside your gloves, to get hands and gloves fully warm. Once you’ve got them heated up, it’ll be a long time before they cool.
