Skytec Argon Thermal Water-Resistant Gloves

Thermal gloves are a great way of helping to keep Raynaud's disease at bay, but when it rains or your hands get wet while working there's little they can do on their own to keep you warm and dry. Thankfully, the Skytec Argon Thermal Water-Resistant Gloves combine insulating properties with a water-resistant coating, allowing you to carry out tasks outdoors such as gardening or going for a walk, safe in the knowledge that your hands will be kept warm and dry in temperatures as low as -50°C.

Will the Skytec Thermal Gloves Prevent Raynaud's Disease?

The Skytec Argon Gloves are designed to keep your hands warm in temperatures as low as -50°C, which makes them an ideal choice if you suffer from Raynaud's disease. Their nylon layer is supported by a warm and snug fit that prevents cold air from creeping in, which means that your hands are not exposed to the elements when it's cold outside or if you're working in cold conditions.

When Can I Wear the Skytec Argon Thermal Gloves?

As Raynaud's disease can strike whether you're at home, at work, or outdoors, the Skytec Argon Thermal Gloves lend themselves to a wide variety of situations.  Suitable applications include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • At Home:
    • Gardening
    • Snow shovelling
    • Taking the bins out
    • Walking the dog
    • Window cleaning
  • At Work:
    • Cold storage
    • Construction
    • Farming
    • Freezer work
    • Manufacturing
    • Outdoor maintenance

What Size of Skytec Gloves Should I Choose?

The Skytec Argon Thermal Gloves are available in four different sizes, meaning that you should be able to find the size that's right for you. To measure your hand, measure the circumference of your hand around the knuckles (excluding your thumb) with your hand open and your fingers together, as seen in the image below.

Indications of Where to Measure Your Hand

Size Palm Circ. Hand Length
Size 7 (Small) 178mm 171mm
Size 8 (Medium) 203mm 182mm
Size 9 (Large) 229mm 192mm
Size 10 (Extra Large) 254mm 204mm

Are They Safe to Use in Extreme Cold Conditions?

While Raynaud's disease can strike in temperatures that are a little chilly or even mild, if you work in extreme cold conditions such as a freezer or if you live in a place where the temperature can drop into the minuses then the Argon Gloves will suit you well. A double insulated thermal lining will protect your hands from temperatures that reach as low as -50°C, while their impressive grip that means that handling slippery frozen items will be made easy.

How Much Dexterity Do the Skytec Gloves Provide?

Despite offering resistance to water and cold, the Skytec gloves don't compromise on dexterity. Their flexible HPT foam lining ensures that you have full control of your shopping bags, dog lead, gardening tools, or anything else you may be handling while wearing the gloves.

What Do the Skytec Argon Gloves Feel Like to Wear?

The Skytec Argon Gloves offer incredible comfort and warmth, so they are designed to fit snugly around your hands in order to keep the cold out. Despite this, they are not overly tight, and you'll find the gloves fit perfectly around your hands. The snug design is designed to keep water out and heat in, therefore they can also prevent things such as dust, dirt and debris from entering the gloves.

Will They Protect My Wrists from the Cold?

Although Raynaud's disease typically affects the fingers and toes, we know that it can also leave the rest of your body feeling painfully cold. The Skytec Argon Gloves will offer total warmth from your fingertips to your wrist; their knit wrist means that they simply slide onto the hand and then hug the wrist, preventing the glove from slipping off your hands during use.

Why Should I Trust the Skytec Argon Gloves?

The Skytec Thermal Gloves are designed to be as durable as possible without compromise to warmth and dexterity. They are backed by a regulatory body, achieving scores under the EN 388 (mechanical protection), and EN 511 (protection from the cold) standards, offering good resistance to abrasions, tears, and contact cold.

Abrasion Resistance Level 3

How Sustainable Are the Argon Water-Resistant Gloves?

By purchasing sustainable gloves you can help to make your workplace and the environment a healthier place. The Skytec Argon Gloves are made from virgin raw materials that not only provide high performance but also remove the need for additional chemicals in the manufacturing process.

What Are the Skytec Argon Thermal Gloves Made From?

The Skytec Argon Gloves are designed with a durable HPT foam coating that extends across the knuckles, helping to protect key areas against risks. A nylon liner ensures flexibility too, helping to provide a durable, reliable and long-lasting pair of gloves. The gloves are also latex and silicone free to reduce irritation risk.

Can I Wash the Skytec Argon Gloves?

The Skytec Argon Gloves are designed to be suitable for washing. They must be washed at 40°C with a neutral detergent. Their mechanical properties typically remain after three washes, though this depends on the degree of wear of the gloves.

Very good gloves. Am using them for rescue boat duty at our sailing club. Interested to see how salt water degrades them, or not.

Great for me but not for my wife
13 March 2022  |  Mark

I purchased a pair of these for my wife and myself as we do a lot of gardening in our local park. I'm having chemo at present and these gloves are good and strong for gardening and are protecting me from the pins and needles side-effects of the chemo quite well, and are good value.

My wife has Reynaud's and arthritis and the gloves are far too rigid for her to use - she doesn't have the strength in her fingers to overcome the stiffness of the gloves and they are therefore unusable for her. So it would be a 5* from me and a 1* from my wife unfortunately.
